I started the year 2012 working from home as a Chat Host Moderator in one of the largest online gaming site based in Europe for 6 years. It is rewarding to work from home aside from the fact that it pays better than working the usual physical job outside, to name a few benefits mainly is I get to be with my family 24/7, able to take good care of them on my own hands. Last year, I gave birth to my second child, and last year December my husband and I decided that we need one of us to let go of the job and focus on the baby’s necessity, of course, no one else but me. But now that I know how to manage my time and got used to it, it turns out that I got a lot of free time. Now I want to go back to work from home. But before that, I have enrolled myself to an online course in Filipino Virtual Assistance to enhance or add more skills to be able to adapt in a world of freelancing which is more competitive nowadays. In spite of that fact I still choose to go back.
Why I still choose to be a freelancer work from home?
Based on the article by Kevin Kruse published Dec. 2012 by Forbes ( Top 10 Benefits of Working From Home (Survey Results) ) .
10) Environmentally friendly (23%)
9) More time with family (29%)
Yes! Taking care of the children, they can reach me whenever they want. Attend kid’s school activities and help them with homework. Prepare meals and pack lunches! A happy husband. Be able to give the attention my family needs.
8) Less stressful environment (38%)
7) Quieter atmosphere (43%)
Of course, you can tell your kids or anyone in your house to pipe down for a while so you can concentrate on your work (you can never tell that to your officemate). Or adjust yourself, office anywhere; in your private office; bedroom; kitchen? Anywhere as long as you are comfortable.
6) Eliminate long commute (44%)
Hectic and shifting schedules? You don’t have to worry about it. All you need is an alarm to wake you up on time. Just a few steps and you are already in your office ready to work.
5) Less distractions (44%)
4) More productive (45%)
Learn and add new skills you need to be a successful freelancer. You can easily have new knowledge with just one click away. Google search and YouTube is your colleagues.
3) Avoid traffic (47%)
2) Save gas (55%)
1) Work/home balance (60%)

You have to learn how to manage your time. Learn how to use multi-tasking and batching then you don’t have to
worry about being sleep deprived or no time to relax. Work/travel balance! pack your things. Don’t forget your laptop, pocket wifi or mobile hotspot. You can take your work with you on your vacation/holidays.
Those are the benefits that actually did for me, now that I am upgrading myself to become a successful freelancer as a Virtual Assistant.
On the other side, finding a work at home job is not that easy. It has now become more competitive. As what my coach always says,
“Find your niche, focus on a specific skill that you love doing and master it.”
for you to be able to work effectively on the job that suits you. Add and enhance more skills to be a One stop shop Virtual Assistant so you can help your client’s business really well. Earning while taking care of your family really sounds good right?
How about you? Will you choose to be a freelancer?
